What’s In A Name?

With only 2 weeks left before the big ‘B’ day, the name suggestion sheet has been scribbled on and wiped clean so many times that I’m no closer to coming up with a name.

So, what do I call my son no.2? Yes, it’s a boy.

Criteria is that it has to flow nicely with his surname. It’s got to roll off the tongue in a way that doesn’t sound disjointed, or make you sound like you’ve got a mouthful of consonants. Norman would not be good. Becky has listed the entire baby-name book from cover to cover and suggested many good examples. But for some reason none of them has grabbed me and make me think ‘yes, my son will be called <insert name here>‘.

Is the meaning of a name important? When we named Ben, we thought about what it meant and would it fit in with the person he would eventually become. But is it that crucial nowadays? With people calling their offspring after fruits or chavs, maybe just the sound of a name and whether you like it or not, is justification in itself.

So, I’m after suggestions. What should I call Ben’s sibling?
